It is hard to believe, but this month we will welcome in Summer on the 21st! It has been a long, rainy Spring but we have so much to look forward to for the Summer months. For those who have signed up for a garden plot, we can begin planting right away! If there are any plots left, I encourage you to try your hand at gardening. It has been proven that it is relaxing and stimulating and counts as exercise – and you can eat your work or display flowers in your home.
Our weekly activities continue, and we have a few new ones to add: We will have White Elephant Bingo on the first and third Mondays at 6 pm. Cards will be available along with daubers. Admission is an item you no longer wish to keep-wrapped up, so it is a surprise. Winner of each game will be able to choose a “prize” from the lot.
Our movie this month is “Calendar Girls” at 1 pm on Tuesday, 6/4. Afterward we will have a discussion of the movie. This is followed by Brunch w/Neighbors at Jake Moon Café at 10 am. Lunch w/Neighbors is Friday, June 14 at 12 pm. This month we are going to Yanni’s Too. Reservations for both will be made under The Spinney at Van Dyke.
To acknowledge World Elder Abuse Awareness, The Spectrum Theater is showing “Edith and Eddie” at 1pm on 6/13. There is no charge to attend. A discussion will be held by author Laura Checkoway, the Oscar winning director of this short film. On Friday 6/21 at noon, bring a bag lunch and join us in discussing Ageism. Stay for Hearts of Love.
Sunday, June 23, we will explore Ancestry with Lynne Collins at 1 pm.
We will celebrate June Birthdays at 1pm, Friday 6/28, followed by You Be The Judge.
Enjoy the balmy breezes of summer!
