Welcome to all new residents and hello to all! It is finally May with its fine weather and beautiful flowers to cheer our days. To all who suffer with allergies, I can commiserate with you.
I MUST emphasize the importance in responding to events. We need this information to ensure that we have enough supplies and/or seating for all. A non-refundable deposit is due one week before we attend Lunch or Brunch with Neighbors.
As always, we have something to choose from Mon. – Fri. on our calendar. If you should like to add a new, weekly activity, please call me or drop me an email. I will try to schedule appropriate activities as soon as possible.
Our book club will be discussing “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” this month May 13 and choosing a new book for June. Book club meets the second Monday of each month at 11 am.
On Friday, May 3rd at 1 pm, we will begin a twice monthly service project for infants and children placed in Neonatal Units in this area. Come and bring your scissors, enthusiasm and we will provide all supplies (and light refreshments). This will be a fun and rewarding time for all who attend – and, remember, there is NO Experience needed. This is open to all sexes. “Hearts of Love”
Saturday, May 4 is the Kentucky Derby. At 6 pm sharp, we will begin the festivities with the traditional Mint Julep (or soda) and Judging the best Hat. We will be in the media room with great seating – FREE. This is opposed to the derby seats which run between $800 up to $7500 each seat. The race is at 6:25 pm.
A donation basket will be available to help cover the cost of the liquor and mint leaves, along with other snacks.
May 10 at 11:45 am we will have “Lunch With Neighbors” at Emma Cleary’s Café. Please leave your deposit ($10 cash) by Tuesday May 7 to attend.
May 16 at 10 am, we will be screening “Instant Family” in the media center.
On May 24 at 3 pm, we will have the first Potluck Picnic of the year on the back patio. Spinney will provide beverages, condiments, plates and silverware. We’ll move to the gazebo at 5 pm for music and Make Your own sundaes.
