September 2018 Community Newsletter

Hello to all our friends and neighbors,

Summer is winding down and soon the brisk and sunny days of Fall with its bright colors and wonderful fruits will be upon us!  Time to reflect upon the year gone by and prepare for the new one ahead.  Our September calendar is packed with things to do!

FIRST!  I ALWAYS ask you to rsvp for every event we are having – especially if it involves food, supplies or speakers!  This has not changed since I began over a year ago, but many people have stopped replying until the very last minute.  If I do not get a healthy response to an event within the first week it is publicized, I send out a reminder.  If I do not get calls from that, the event is cancelled.  So, from here going forward, I am expecting my email ( to be jumping and my phone (518) 689-0162 x 147 to be jingling!

The Offices of The Spinney Group will be CLOSED on Monday, Sept. 3 in observance of Labor Day.

Our regular weekly activities will continue as always (on calendar) with some new additions:  Bocce at 9:30 am at the Gazebo, Men’s Breakfast the second Friday of the month at 8:45 am and Game Day on Tuesdays at 12 pm. We now have at least one activity to choose from each day!  When we secure a new instructor for chair yoga, a notice will be emailed and posted in the clubhouse.

We are now working together with Bethlehem Senior Services to provide more options for you to enjoy.  They will be dropping off their Newsletter (available online too at for a complete listing of all they offer.  NOTE:  Sept. 4 @ 8 am is the day to register for their bus trips!  If you DO NOT register on this day, you may not get a seat as they sell out FAST!

Sept. 9:  11 am  By popular request: BRUNCH w/Neighbors at Reel Seafood where the food is fantastic and there are many affordable menu choices.  $10 cash pp reservation to me by 9/6.

Sept. 12:  6:30 pm COMMUNITY MEETING.  I urge all residents to attend this important hour for us to share where we were, are and will be!  News on pending issues will be shared and new options explored.  Your input is vital!  Light refreshments served afterward. This is not a time to bring up management issues.  Please see the Calendar for Management Hours as needed.

Sept. 14:  6 pm  Movie “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” by request!

Sept. 18:  11 am  Four Corners Pharmacy will be here to present an exciting new option for your daily medication management that will greatly assist in medication compliance!  FLU SHOTS WILL BE AVAILABLE!  You must sign up by Sept. 12.  A sign-up sheet will be available at the Community Meeting.
