August 2018 Newsletter

Hello, Friends and Neighbors,

It is truly hard to believe that we are in the eighth month of 2018 already!  We have had a lot of fun during this year and have some new and exciting things planned for the rest of the year.  I will not list all of the daily activities this month as they are on your calendars, but just highlight some special days and talk about things coming up in the Fall.  If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to call me at the office in the mornings or at home in the afternoon.

First, a hearty welcome to all of our many new residents!  We are glad you chose The Spinney as your new home and are sure that you will love it here as we all do.  Please be sure to take advantage of our activity calendar and meet new friends – if you do not find something you are interested in, call me with your suggestions and I will try to make it happen!

On Friday, Aug. 10 @ 8:45am, we will have a Special Event just for our men!  I bet you didn’t know that we have 37 male residents.  Ladies, we need your help to get your man out here for this event!  Men, if you are without a partner, then you need to get out of your house and meet the other men here!  Of course, there will be delicious food, etc…

Lunch with Neighbors will be on Tue., Aug. 14 @ 12:45 pm following Book Club. We will be making our yearly visit to Yanni’s Too.   A $10 cash deposit per person is due by Aug.10 to reserve your place.  Please place in an envelope with your name and put in my lockbox on the wall in the office hallway.  Meet at the Clubhouse to carpool.

Aug. 17 is National Thrift Shop Day !  On this Friday, those bargain hunters among us will caravan to selected shops in our area who may have reduced prices for this special day.  Maps and directions will be provided.  Please RSVP to me by Aug. 15.

There is a Wedding at the Gazebo beginning around 10:30 am and a Reception in the Clubhouse all day on Aug. 18.  If you have animals that you walk, please be considerate and do not use these areas for just this one day out of respect to the family.  Thank you.

As August is officially known as the Peach Month, we will celebrate with a Peach Shortcake Social on Friday Aug. 24 @ 6pm on the Patio at the Clubhouse.  Now, I am calling out for help from bakers in our community to help bake the shortcake biscuits!  Please, please, please sign up for a dozen or two by Aug. 21 – just drop me an email or a call.  I will be eternally grateful to you.

On Saturday, Aug. 25, I will be going on vacation with my dear husband, daughter, her partner and two kids to Ocean City, MD for a much-needed family time!  I will be back at work on Tuesday, Sept. 4.  If anything comes up during that time, please leave me an email or voicemail.

In September we will be having a Community Meeting to discuss plans for the future and goals for our community.  We would like all residents to attend.

There is a Bus Trip and Lake Cruise in September (previously announced) with Browns Tours on 9/22.  We will also have an Autumn Craft Day and Announce a Community Service Project that all can be involved with.

Enjoy your Month and Be Happy Out There!
