February 2018 Newsletter

Hello, friends and neighbors. Welcome to the middle point between Winter and Spring!  This month, we celebrate some important and wacky days. February is the month where we celebrate Black History Month, American Heart Month and Great American Pie Month. We will be doing some fun things this month and reflecting on the past and how privileged we are to live in America.

 

We are greatly encouraged by the increased participation in the events we have scheduled.  Welcome to all the new faces we see and continue to spread the word!  Remember to send me your suggestions for things you would like to see. In addition – RSVP to all events!

Feb 2:  12pm at the Clubhouse we will celebrate “Candlemas” with home cooked Shepard’s Pie.  Would someone or two volunteer to bring a green salad or rolls for 15, please?  Call me to let me know.

Feb 4: 1:30 – 3pm at Honest Weight Food Coop (100 Watervliet Ave., Albany) “Bird Language” with Devin from Flying Deer Nature Center.

Feb 7:  1:30pm Chair Yoga in the Media Room

5:30 pm at Romo’s Pizza in Glenmont “Plus One” music with dining.

Feb 8:  4:45pm Equipment Instruction at our gym with Revive Wellness.

Feb 9:  11am – 2pm Schenectady Artist Assn. show and sale at the Italian Heritage Center (1227 Central Ave. Albany).  Meet at the Clubhouse to carpool at 10:30am, please RSVP by 2/7!

Feb 11:  2-3pm at Bethlehem Public Library, A Little Sunday Music with the Mendelssohn Club

Feb 12: 11am DAY CHANGE the Book Club will be discussing “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.

Feb 13:  3:30pm Guided Meditation with Dayle.   IN ADDITION:  RSVPS for Brunch are due.

Feb 14:  4pm Clubhouse “High Tea” to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style!

Feb 16:  7pm Games Night at the Clubhouse (scheduled later to accommodate). Bring your favorite game.

Feb 18:  11am Brunch with Friends at Treviso in the Italian Community Center on Washington Ave. Ext, Albany.  YOU MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS BY FEB. 13!  $21.95 PP

Feb. 19:  2pm at the library-Make your own Sugar Scrub. Register before 2/14 at (518) 439-9314.

Feb 20:  11:50am at the Clubhouse “Hoodie Hoo Day” with lunch to follow.

Feb 21:  6pm at the Clubhouse, we will be having a class in Jewelry Making.  Cost will be determined by what you choose to make ($8-18).  We must have a minimum of 8 people.  Please rsvp right away if you are interested or if you would like to help out.

Feb 22: 2pm at the Clubhouse.  Well, I did say it was Great American Pie month, so we are calling on all of you great bakers to bring out your best for a Best Pie contest!  A panel of distinguished judges will taste and determine the winner(s).  Prize(s) will be awarded.

3:15pm Chair yoga in the Media Room

Feb 23:  6:30pm in the Media room we will screen a romantic movie to pay honor to American Heart Month and Valentine’s Day and have popcorn, of course!

Feb 26: 7pm, The Palace Theater in Albany will be screening the movie “Casablanca” to honor the 75TH anniversary of its first showing. $5 per person

Feb 27: 12pm Proctor’s will be having a free concert highlighting its wonderful organ, Goldie.

3:30pm Guided Meditation with Dayle!

Feb 28:  1pm in the Clubhouse we will celebrate February’s birthdays.  All are welcome to attend.

Coming Up in March:  March 5 at 9:30am, we will serve a French Toast Breakfast in the Clubhouse.  Please RSVP by 2/26 to attend.  Also, March 23, the Capital District Flower Show at Hudson Valley CC.
